Juliette Compton
Juliette Compton (May 3, 1899 – March 19, 1989) was an American actress whose career began in the silent film era and concluded with ''That Hamilton Woman'' in 1941. Career Compton was born in Columbus, Georgia, on May 3, 1899. She was a model for illustrator Harrison Fisher, and perhaps his favorite model. Compton's show business career began when she acted in ''The Kiss Burglar'' in New York. That was followed by a season in the Ziegfeld Follies. In London, she appeared on stage for three years, including acting in ''The League of Notions'' and went on to act in British films for five years. Financial problems On January 4, 1927, a bankruptcy court in London, England, appointed an official receiver for Compton after presentation of evidence that she had no assets and had liabilities of $37,500. A news brief distributed by International News Service said that a nervous breakdown suffered by Compton was "attributed to difficulties in which she finds herself over debts. ...

''Kick In'' is a 1931 American pre-Code drama film produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film, based on the 1914 Broadway play by Willard Mack which had starred John Barrymore, was directed by Richard Wallace and starred the legendary Clara Bow in her last film for Paramount Pictures. The movie was filmed twice in the silent era: a version filmed in 1917 by Pathé and a 1922 version released by Paramount. The 1922 film, lost for over 80 years, was discovered to have been in the Gosfilmofond archive in Moscow and returned to the U.S. in 2010. The 1931 version of ''Kick In'' is currently controlled by Universal Studios, who own or control all Paramount films made between 1929 and 1949. ''Morocco '' is a 1930 American pre-Code romantic drama film directed by Josef von Sternberg and starring Gary Cooper, Marlene Dietrich, and Adolphe Menjou. Based on the 1927 novel ''Amy Jolly'' (the on-screen credits state: from the play 'Amy Jolly') by Benno Vigny and adapted by Jules Furthman, the film is about a cabaret singer and a Legionnaire who fall in love during the Rif War, and whose relationship is complicated by his womanizing and the appearance of a rich man who is also in love with her. The film is famous for a scene in which Dietrich performs a song dressed in a man's tailcoat and kisses another woman (to the embarrassment of the latter), both of which were considered scandalous for the period.
