Julia Grosso
Julia Angela Grosso (born August 29, 2000) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Italian Serie A club Juventus FC and the Canada women's national team. She attained international prominence after scoring the title-winning penalty kick at the 2020 Summer Olympics, leading Canada to its first gold medal. Early life Grosso was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended Burnaby Central Secondary where she played with the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Rex. Grosso's sister Carli was also a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps system and played for the Simon Fraser Clan. Grosso made her college debut for the Texas Longhorns on August 17, 2018, in a 3–0 win over the Rice Owls. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is an amateur women's soccer league in the United States and Canada. It is the top amateur league for women's soccer in the United States soccer pyramid, below only National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Rice University athletic teams are known as the Rice Owls. The name comes from the owls in Rice's crest. Rice participates in NCAA Division I athletics. Burnaby Central Secondary School is a public high school in Burnaby, British Columbia. It is located across from Burnaby City Hall and is adjacent to Deer Lake Park.
