Joshua Ryan Philippe (born 1 June 1997) is an Australian cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper batsman. He made his international debut for the Australia cricket team in February 2021. Born to a cricketing family, his father has played for Western Australia 2nd XI and coached Western Fury while his mother has represented Western Australia in the 1980s. Career Philippe made his Twenty20 debut for Perth Scorchers against the Sydney Sixers in the 2017–18 Big Bash League season on 23 December 2017. Prior to his T20 debut, he scored 88 runs from 92 balls opening the batting against England in a warm-up match representing a Western Australia XI, prior to the 2017–18 Ashes series. The Australia cricket team toured New Zealand in February and March 2021 to play five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In August 2020, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that the tour was going ahead, and were working with their government to comply with biosecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. In cricket, a bye is a type of extra. It is a run scored by the batting team when the ball has not been hit by the batter and the ball has not hit the batter's body. Scoring byes Usually, if the ball passes the batter without being deflected, the wicket-keeper will catch it. This normally prevents the scoring of runs because the batters will be unable to complete a run before being stumped or run out by the wicket-keeper. However, if the wicket-keeper fumbles or misses the ball, the batters may be able to score runs safely. The 2018 JLT One-Day Cup was the 50th season of the official List A domestic cricket competition in Australia. It was played over a four-week period at the start of the domestic season to separate its schedule from the Sheffield Shield season.
