Joseph Young (born 1982, in Goose Creek, South Carolina, USA) is an American orchestra conductor. Biography Joseph Young serves as the Music Director of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of Ensembles for the Peabody Conservatory, Resident Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra – USA at Carnegie Hall, and sits on the board of New Music, USA. He studied conducting at Peabody Conservatory under Gustav Meier and Markand Thakar, graduating in 2009. Young participated in a conducting workshop at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, and subsequently became a conducting student of Marin Alsop. In the 2021-2022 season, Young traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa to inaugurate the newly formed Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra and led the premiere of William Menefield and Sheila Williams' ''Fierce'' with the Cincinnati Opera. Goose Creek is a city in Berkeley County in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 45,946 at the 2020 census. Most of the Naval Weapons Station Charleston is in Goose Creek. As defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and used only by the U.S. Census Bureau and other federal agencies for statistical purposes, Goose Creek is included within the Charleston–North Charleston–Summerville metropolitan area and the Charleston–North Charleston Urbanized Area. Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is an American symphony orchestra located in Buffalo, New York led by Music Director JoAnn Faletta. Its primary performing venue is Kleinhans Music Hall, which is a National Historic Landmark. Each season it presents over 120 classical series, pops, rock, youth, and family concerts. During the summer months, the orchestra performs at parks and outdoor venues across Western New York. The orchestra was founded by Cameron Baird, Frederick Slee, and Samuel P. Capen in 1934. Past music directors of the Philharmonic include William Steinberg, Josef Krips, Willis Page, Lukas Foss, Michael Tilson Thomas, Semyon Bychkov, and Maximiano Valdés. Joana Carneiro (born Joana Maria Amaro da Costa da Luz Carneiro, Lisbon, 30 September 1976), is a Portuguese conductor. Family Joana Carneiro is the third of the nine children of the former Portuguese Minister of Education Roberto Carneiro. She is a niece of the Portuguese politician Adelino Amaro da Costa. As a youth, Carneiro played the viola. In Portugal, Carneiro studied music at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra in Lisbon, where she attended the class of Jean-Marc Burfin. She earned a master's degree in music at Northwestern University, studying with Victor Yampolsky and Mallory Thompson. She continued graduate studies in music for a doctorate at the University of Michigan, where her teachers included Kenneth Kieser. Central is a town in Pickens County, South Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,159, roughly 3,000 of whom were considered permanent residents. Contrary to its name, it is not near South Carolina's center.
