Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips (born September 21, 1992) is an American football defensive tackle who is a free agent. He played college football at Oklahoma. Early years Phillips attended Circle High School in Towanda, Kansas, where he played high school football. He was rated by Scout.com as a five-star recruit and Rivals.com as a four-star. He committed to the University of Oklahoma to play college football. College career Phillips played at Oklahoma from 2011 to 2014. As a freshman in 2011, he was redshirted. As a redshirt freshman in 2012, he appeared in 12 games, recording 12 tackles. Phillips played in only four games his sophomore season in 2013 due to a back injury. He had seven tackles and 1.5 sacks before the injury. Phillips returned from the injury in 2014. He finished the year with 31 tackles and two sacks. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach.
