Jonathan Dow
Jonathan Dow (born 23 March 1965) is a British actor and voiceover artist. He joined the National Youth Theatre at the age of 14, and after finishing his A levels he trained at the Guildhall Drama School. His first big television role was as Under Secretary Tim in '' No Job for a Lady'' ( ITV, 1990) with Penelope Keith. He has also appeared as P.C. Stringer in ''The Bill'' ( ITV, 1990–1993) and Dr. James Mortimer in the Jed Mercurio series ''Cardiac Arrest'' (BBC, 1994–1996). He also appeared in one episode of '' Sooty & Co.'' as a police officer. In 2018, Dow recorded a two-part interview for The Bill Podcast to discuss his life and career. Redditch
Redditch is a town, and local government district, in north-east Worcestershire, England, approximately south of Birmingham. The district has a population of 85,000 as of 2019. In the 19th century, it became the international centre for the needle and fishing tackle industry. At one point, 90% of the world's needles were manufactured in the town and its neighbourhoods. In the 1960s, it became a model for modern new town planning. History The first recorded mention of Redditch (''Red-Ditch'', thought to be a reference to the red clay of the nearby River Arrow) is in 1348, the year of the outbreak of the Black Death. Gerald Gary "Jed" Mercurio (born September 1966) is a British television writer, producer, director and novelist. A former hospital doctor and Royal Air Force officer, Mercurio has been ranked among UK television's leading writers. In 2017, Mercurio was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Television Society and the Baird Medal by RTS Midlands. His works for television include the series ''Line of Duty'', ''Bodyguard'', ''Bodies'' (based on his 2002 novel), ''The Grimleys'', and ''Cardiac Arrest''. ''Sooty & Co.'' is a British children's television series, created and presented by Matthew Corbett, produced by Granada Television, and aired on ITV from 6 September 1993 to 14 December 1998. It is the sequel to the children's programme ''The Sooty Show'', which had concluded in 1992, retaining the sitcom format, and focuses on the misadventures of Sooty, Sweep, Soo, Little Cousin Scampi, and Matthew as they try to run a bric a brac shop in Manchester. ''Cardiac Arrest'' was a British medical drama series made by World Productions for BBC1. It first broadcast between 1994 and 1996. The series was controversial owing to its cynical depiction of doctors, nurses, and the National Health Service (NHS), although it has often topped polls of the UK medical profession as the most realistic medical drama of all time. The series was created by Jed Mercurio (writing under the pseudonym John MacUre), a former junior doctor who had worked at a hospital in Wolverhampton. Mercurio drew on his experience to provide a more visceral, albeit wryly humorous, look at the NHS in the 1990s. At the time of airing, Mercurio was still working as a doctor.
