Johnstown, Queensland
Johnstown is a rural locality split between the South Burnett Region and the Gympie Region, both in Queensland, Australia. In the Johnstown had a population of 30 people. History The locality name is derived from a pastoral run held in 1854 by John Stephen Ferriter. The run is shown on an 1872 map of Southern Queensland, south of the Stephenton run which was also held by Ferriter, suggesting the names of the runs derive from Ferriter's given names. Johnstown Provisional School opened on 27 March 1916 and closed on 1 September 1924. It reopened on 18 April 1933 and closed on 20 February 1935. Johnstown West Provisional School opened on 4 July 1938. On 22 October 1952 it became Johnstown West State School. It closed on 7 July 1967. In the Johnstown had a population of 30 people. Johnstown is a home rule municipality in Weld and Larimer counties in the U.S. state of Colorado. The population was 9,887 at the 2010 United States Census. History The Town of Johnstown began with the vision of Harvey J. Parish before its platting in 1902. The town was named for Parish's son. The town was incorporated in 1907. A meteorite fall in the adjacent former town of Elwell on the afternoon of 6 July 1924, became known as the Johnstown meteorite. It was notable with a number of large pieces of the broken-up asteroid recovered, including one of that impacted into the Earth to a depth of . The meteorite fell during an outdoor funeral service with more than 200 people attending who witnessed the event or heard the several stones falling. Johnstown station is an Amtrak intercity rail station in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. The station is north of downtown Johnstown across the Little Conemaugh River. It is served by the daily round trip of the '' Pennsylvanian''. History The station building was designed by Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison for the Pennsylvania Railroad and built in 1916. Amtrak took over intercity passenger service in 1971. The cancellation of the '' Three Rivers'' in 2005 (leaving just the ''Pennsylvanian'') marked the first time in Johnstown's railway history that the town was served by just a single daily passenger train. In November 2021, Amtrak announced plans for a renovation of the station, expected to begin in October 2022. The work will include replacement of the existing island platform and headhouse with an accessible platform and headhouse with an elevator, filling of the existing baggage tunnel, and track work. Johnstown is a town located in Fulton County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 7,098. The name of the town is from landowner William Johnson. The town of Johnstown is located on the southern border of the county. It borders on three sides the city of Johnstown and the city of Gloversville. History Johnstown was founded by William Johnson, a British military officer and colonial government official, in a region once known as "Kingsborough". Johnson named the settlement after his son, John Johnson, and by 1762 constructed a baronial hall.
