Johnny Rioux
Johnny Rioux is a musician primarily known for playing in and working with many punk rock bands. He was initially based in Boston, MA but is now based in Texas. Rioux is most known for his tenure as bass guitarist with the Street Dogs with whom he joined in 2003. In February 2020, Rioux and lead singer and founding member Mike McColgan announced that after 17 years the Street Dogs were disbanding. He was mentioned in the song "Teenage Gluesniffer" by the Queers. Rioux has also been in groups such as celtic rock band Murder the Stout (along with former Street Dogs guitarist Marcus Hollar) and Street Dogs' americana side project FM359. He has previously played with Roger Miret and the Disasters, The Bruisers and The Kickovers. He has also worked with bands in non-musician roles including as a guitar technician for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and tour manager for Dropkick Murphys. Dropkick Murphys
Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. Singer and bassist Ken Casey has been the band's only constant member. Other current members include drummer Matt Kelly (1997– ), singer Al Barr (1998– ), guitarist James Lynch (2000– ), multi-instrumentalist Tim Brennan (2003– ) and multi-instrumentalist Jeff DaRosa (2007– ). The band was initially signed to independent punk record label Hellcat Records, releasing five albums for the label, and building a reputation locally through constant touring and yearly St. Patrick's Day week shows, held in and around Boston. Crooked Drunken Sons
''Crooked Drunken Sons'' is an EP by the Street Dogs. It was released on 7" and as a digital download on Record Store Day, April 20, 2013, by Pirates Press Records. The title song is named after an annual tour the band has been doing. The songs were recorded in November 2012 at bassist Johnny Rioux's compound in Texas. The songs were originally meant to be demos for their next album, but the band liked them enough to release them as-is. One of the B-sides, "I Got Drunk", is an Uncle Tupelo cover. ''Savin Hill'' is the first album by punk band Street Dogs. This is the first new material featuring lead singer Mike McColgan since he quit Dropkick Murphys in 1998. The album is named after Savin Hill, a small area within the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The album includes two covers, of Kris Kristofferson's "The Pilgrim: Chapter 33" and Sham 69's "Borstal Breakout". Dicky Barrett from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones provides guest vocals on the track "Justifiable Fisticuffs" and former Murphys bandmate Ken Casey and Mike's Murphys replacement Al Barr provide guest vocals on the track "Stand Up." ''Osaka'' is the only album put out by The Kickovers. It was released on April 23, 2002 on the Fenway Recordings record label. Some promotional copies of ''Osaka'' went out with the band's original name, The Brakes. Shortly after, they had to change their name because of a New York City band called The Break. The album includes one cover, " Hanging on the Telephone", which was originally performed by The Nerves, although a cover of it by Blondie was more popular. "The Good Life" is also the name of a Weezer song, so some fans may have expected it to be a cover, especially since bassist Mikey Welsh was a member of Weezer prior to The Kickovers.
