Joe Craft Center
The Joe Craft Center, opened in January 2007, is a basketball practice facility and athletics office building attached to Memorial Coliseum (University of Kentucky), Memorial Coliseum on Kentucky Route 1974, the "Avenue of Champions" at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. The facility is named after businessman and philanthropist Joe Craft, a Hazard, Kentucky native, who pledged $6 million towards the completion of the $30 million project. Features The 102,000 ft² (9,480 m²) structure contains separate practice courts for the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball, men's and Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball, women's basketball programs, as well as support spaces for both programs, including coaches' offices."Basketball Practice Facility." 2005 February 2005. Basketball
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one, two or three one-point free throws.
