Jean-Pierre Hortoland
Jean-Pierre Hortoland (born in Marseillan, Hérault, on 28 May 1947) is a French rugby union player. At 1m 80 and 102 kg (5'11" and 224 lbs), he played left prop for AS Béziers and RC Narbonne Armand Vaquerin replaced him at Béziers from the 1971/1972 season. Hortoland has the distinction of having played in the best years of two first division clubs from his region. Today, he is a physiotherapist-osteopath and currently head of the ''Institut franco-britannique d'ostéopathie'' (Franco-British Institute of Osteopathy) in Béziers. He is the author of several works in this discipline. Hortoland participates in local political life in Béziers in support of the Greens (''les Verts''). Marseillan, Hérault
Marseillan (; oc, Massilhan) is a commune in the Hérault department in southern France. As of , the population of Marseillan is . The port of Marseillan is a protected heritage site, and the altar and organ in the church are also listed. There has been virtually no new building in the heart of the village since the 17th century, and many of the houses date to the 12th century. History There is dispute as to who exactly founded the village. Marseille claims that honour, largely due to the similarity between the names of the two towns. But both names are derived from the Greco-Phoenician Massaliotes who extended trading routes from the eastern Mediterranean. The Massaliotes certainly founded Marseille around 600 BC and, shortly after, Agde. Thus, Agde is said to be the second oldest town in France. The foundation of Marseillan, however, is less clear. The Challenge Yves du Manoir was a rugby union club competition that was played in France between 1931 and 2003 under different names. It is named after former player Yves du Manoir. History The Challenge Yves du Manoir was officially created on September 21, 1931, by Racing Club de France with the support of two other clubs, CA Bègles and AS Montferrand.
