Jean-Claude Drouot
Jean Claude Drouot (born 17 December 1938) is a Belgian actor whose career has lasted over a half-century. At the age of twenty-five, he gained widespread fame in the French-speaking world as a result of portraying the title role in the popular television adventure series, '' Thierry la Fronde''. Biography Born in the Belgian municipality of Lessines, Jean Claude Drouot learned his stagecraft with the ''Young Theater'' of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Later (date unknown) he moved from Brussels to Paris. In Paris he followed courses with Charles Dullin. Until his departure from Dullin's troupe in 1962, he interpreted the great tragedies and plays of Molière. From 1963 until 1966 he starred as Thierry La Fronde for the TV series '' Thierry La Fronde''. He made his first film in 1965 with '' The Devil's Tricks'' of Paul Vecchiali. ''Capitaine Marleau'' is a french television series, created by Elsa Marpeau, that first broadcast on France 3 on 20 December 2014 and since 2021 on France 2. The series, directed entirely by Josée Dayan, stars Corinne Masiero as the title character, an eccentric captain of the National Gendarmerie, whose mixed personality of dark humour and unconventional approaches often separates her from her colleagues. Enguerrand de Marigny, Baron Le Portier (126030 April 1315) was a French chamberlain and minister of Philip IV. Early life He was born at Lyons-la-Forêt in Normandy, of an old Norman family of the smaller baronage called Le Portier, which took the name of Marigny about 1200. The Year Of The French (TV Serial)
''The Year of the French'' was a television serial, directed by Michael Garvey and based on the novel by Thomas Flanagan, which was first broadcast in 1982. It was a co-production by the Irish broadcaster RTÉ, the British television company Channel Four and the French broadcaster FR3, now France 3. The first episode was shown on RTÉ television on 18 November 1982. In France the programme was known as ''L'année des Français'' and was first broadcast on 23 May 1983. The title refers to the year 1798 when French troops sailed to Ireland to support Irish rebels against the British forces under Lord Cornwallis. To accompany the series Paddy Moloney composed and arranged music which was performed by The Chieftains with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conducted by Proinnsias O'Duinn, and with Ruairi Somers on bagpipes. Gaston Fébus (also spelt Phoebus) (30 April 1331 – 1391) was the eleventh count of Foix (as Gaston III) and twenty-fourth viscount of Béarn (as Gaston X) from 1343 until his death. Early life Gaston was born either in Orthez or Foix, the eldest son of Gaston II/IX (1308–1343). As the lord's eldest son, he was given the dynastic name, Gaston. He later adopted Fébus as a nickname. In its classic spelling, Phoebus, it is one of the names of the sun-god, Apollo, and is apt because of Gaston Fébus's golden hair. Pierre Gilliard (16 May 1879 – 30 May 1962) was a Swiss academic and author, best known as the French language tutor to the five children of Emperor Nicholas II of Russia from 1905 to 1918. In 1921, after the Russian Revolution of 1917, he published a memoir, ''Thirteen Years at the Russian Court'', about his time with the family.
