Jason McGerr
Jason McGerr (born July 19, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the drummer for the band Death Cab for Cutie. Musical career Early years McGerr was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. At age ten, he began learning to play the drums in order to get into his middle school band. By 16, he was playing paid gigs at local bars. In a 2018 interview with KEXP, he stated that he knew he wanted to do drumming professionally when he heard Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" for the first time at 14. He was an avid fisher growing up, and worked at H&H Sporting Goods, a local fly shop, throughout high school. McGerr was previously in the bands Krusters Kronomid and Eureka Farm, as well as the jazz trio Rockin' Teenage Combo. In the Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage documentary, McGerr identified drummer Neil Peart as his hero. Black Dog (Led Zeppelin Song)
"Black Dog" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin, the opening track on the band's untitled fourth album (1971). The song was released as a single and reached the charts in several countries; however, as was their practice, it was not issued in the United Kingdom. The song was included in ''Rolling Stone''s (US) "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" and ranked No. 1 in ''Q'' magazine's (UK) "20 Greatest Guitar Tracks". Composition "Black Dog" is built around a call and response dynamic between the vocalist and band, with its start and stop a cappella verses inspired by Fleetwood Mac's 1969 song " Oh Well", according to biographer Dave Lewis. ''Some Mad Hope'' is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, released on August 14, 2007, on Vanguard Records. It peaked on the ''Billboard'' 200 at #60, and peaked at 3 on the Top Independent Albums. ''Some Mad Hope'' was Nathanson's first album for Vanguard Records, and contained two singles that became AAA airplay staples, "Car Crash" and " Come On Get Higher". In September 2008, Vanguard Records announced "All We Are" and "To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts" as future singles. The city skyline that's featured on the album's cover is that of Los Angeles. Matthew Adam Nathanson (born March 28, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter whose work is a blend of folk and rock and roll music. In addition to singing, he plays acoustic (sometimes a 12-string) and electric guitar, and has played both solo and with a full band. His work includes the platinum-selling song " Come On Get Higher". One of his hit songs, "Giants", was the opening music for the 2016 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on ESPN. ''Sainthood'' is the sixth studio album by the Canadian indie pop duo Tegan and Sara, released in the UK on October 26, 2009 and in the US on October 27, by Sire Records. The album was a shortlisted nominee for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. Background This is the first album by Tegan and Sara to feature a song co-written by the pair, as they usually choose to write separately. However, it was not written while Tegan and Sara stayed together in New Orleans as an attempt to write together. ''Transatlanticism'' is the fourth studio album by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, released on October 7, 2003, by Barsuk Records. At this point in their career, the group had toured and recorded for nearly a half-decade. With tensions rising, the band decided to take time away from one another; notably, Ben Gibbard collaborated with electronic musician Dntel (Jimmy Tamborello), and released an album, '' Give Up'', under the name the Postal Service. Death Cab regrouped in late 2002 to create ''Transatlanticism'', which was recorded in a leisurely manner over five-day stretches until June 2003.
