James Genn
James Douglas Genn is a Canadian film and TV writer and director born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1972. His work includes the feature film ''Old Stock'' and the Genie Award nominated short film ''The Dog Walker'', produced at the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto, where he completed a director's residency in 2003. His work has screened at festivals around the world and has earned him several awards, such as CSA, Genie, Gemini, and DGC award nominations, and the first ever Philip Borsos Award. David Robert Madison Genn is a Canadian musician, producer, and songwriter. He is a member of the rock group 54-40, and a former member of the Matthew Good Band. Early life Genn was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 2 March 1969. He is the son of artist G Robert Genn. Career Dead Surf Kiss (DSK) Dave Genn was a member of Vancouver psychedelic, punk, hard rock, band Dead Surf Kiss, named after their love of The Grateful Dead, Surf music, and KISS. They had several releases, the first of which was titled "Narcotic Nevada" via Vancouver label "Onslot Music" in 1991. The album was produced by Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy) and Dan Tanna. Robert Douglas Genn (May 15, 1936 – May 27, 2014) was a Canadian artist, who gained recognition for his style, which is in the tradition of Canadian landscape painting. He ran a painters' website, which sends out twice weekly newsletters to 135,000 artists. In 2005, Genn campaigned against the Chinese website, arch-world.com, which was selling thousands of high-resolution images of around 2,800 artists' work illegally, without permission.
