Rugby League European Federation
The European Rugby League (ERL) is the Umbrella organization, umbrella body for nations playing the sport of rugby league football across Europe. In the absence of other continental federations, ERL also controls rugby league in North America (including Central America), the Middle East and Africa. History 2003-2019 The federation was founded January 2003 following an initiative between Richard Lewis (tennis and rugby league), Richard Lewis, Executive Chairman of United Kingdom, Britain's Rugby Football League (RFL) and his France, French counterpart Jean Paul Ferre. The RLEF's first constitution was approved in January 2004 and the federation's first Board of Directors was elected. Jamaica
Jamaica (; ) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola). Jamaica lies about south of Cuba, and west of Hispaniola (the island containing the countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic); the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands lies some to the north-west. Dean Thomas (rugby League)
Dean Thomas is an English Rugby league football coach and former player. He is the coach of the Leicester Storm in the Conference League South. Player Thomas played for Ryedale-York and Barrow Raiders. His primary position was winger. While at Ryedale-York he coached the York u16's in the English schools Rugby League after gaining his level 2 coaching badge. Coaching After retiring from playing in 2001 Thomas joined Sheffield Eagles rugby league club as fitness conditioner staying in this role for 5 years. He left to join National League Two club Gateshead Thunder as head coach. During his two-season stay he took the club to the play-offs in both seasons. He left to go to Salford City Reds where he was a fitness conditioner. In 2008 he returned to Sheffield Eagles as Head of Youth Development and performance coach. Jamaica National League
The Jamaica National League is a rugby league competition held annually in Jamaica. It is one of two leagues in Jamaica, the other being the Jamaica Premiership. It started in 2005 when four teams entered the competition and has since grown to six. Currently the league is sponsored by Globe Insurance. Structure The five teams each play two games against each other, one at home and one away. At the end of those eight matches the top two teams will play in the Grand Final and be the overall winners. Points are awarded as follow: 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Originally in 2005, when there were only four teams, each team would only play three games each. A larger fixture list was added for the 2006 season because the previous season had been deemed a success despite the small number of games. Teams There are eight teams in the league. The Jamaica national rugby league team represents Jamaica in international rugby league tournaments.
