Jacob Alexander May (born January 23, 1992) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder who played for the Chicago White Sox in 2017. Amateur career The Cincinnati Reds selected May in the 39th round of the 2010 MLB draft out of Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio. He did not sign and enrolled at Coastal Carolina University, where he played college baseball for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. In 2012, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and was named a league all-star. Professional career The Chicago White Sox selected May in the third round of the 2013 MLB draft. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball program has been the university's most consistent program in terms of success. Head Coach Gary Gilmore (903–464-1 at CCU, 1,156-566-3 overall) has led the Chanticleers to 16 NCAA Regional appearances and three Super Regional appearances since being hired in 1996. The program has received #1 regional seeds on five occasions (2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2018) and won 50+ games in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2016. Miguel Ángel González Martínez (born May 27, 1984), also known by his nickname El Mariachi, is a Mexican former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles from 2012 to 2015, the White Sox from 2016 through 2017, the Texas Rangers in 2017 and the Chicago White Sox in 2018. The Charlotte Knights are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. They are located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and play their home games at Truist Field, which opened in 2014 and is located in Uptown Charlotte. The Winston-Salem Dash are a Minor League Baseball team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They are a High-A team in the South Atlantic League and have been a farm team of the Chicago White Sox since 1997. The Australian Baseball League (ABL) is a professional baseball league in Australia. The league is governed by the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF). The Sydney Blue Sox are a professional baseball team, and one of eight foundation teams in the re-formed Australian Baseball League (ABL). The Great Falls Voyagers are an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB) but is an MLB Partner League. They are located in Great Falls, Montana, and play their home games at Centene Stadium. The team has played continuously in the Pioneer League since 1969, and previously played in the league from 1948 to 1963. 2013 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft was held from June 6 through June 8, 2013. The first two rounds were broadcast from Studio 42 of the MLB Network in Secaucus, New Jersey.
