Justus Nyang’aya
Justus Abonyo Nyang'aya is a social development professional and human rights activist who served as a Commissioner at Kenya's Electoral Agency Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC till 2 December 2022. He chaired the Information and Communication Technology committee. He is one of four commissioners besides Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi who disavowed the 2022 Kenyan general election presidential results read out by Chair Wafula Chebukati. Career Justus Nyang`aya was a Peace Education Expert with UNESCO-PEER for a year until 1988 before acting as a Refugee Education Counsellor at Windle Charitable Trust for 27 months from March 1988. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is an independent regulatory agency that was founded in the year 2011 through the making of the Constitution of Kenya. Kiambu County is a county in the former Central Province of Kenya. Its capital is Kiambu and its largest town is Thika town. Wafula Chebukati
Wafula Wanyonyi Chebukati (19 December 1961 – 20 February 2025) was a Kenyan lawyer and a one time chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is responsible for overseeing elections in Kenya. Wafula Chebukati was appointed to the position on a six-year tenure in January 2017 by the retired President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta. Following his appointment in 2017, he succeeded Ahmed Issack Hassan. He retired on 17 January 2023, following the end of his term. He led Kenya through two heavily contested and controversial general elections; August 2017 and 2022 General Elections. His tenure at Kenya's electoral body was also one marred with resignation of IEBC commissioners, including his deputies, who faulted his leadership. General elections were held in Kenya on Tuesday, 9 August 2022.
