Judd Hill Cotton Gin
The Judd Hill Cotton Gin is a historic cotton gin in Judd Hill, Arkansas. The gin was part of the Judd Hill Plantation, which was established by businessman Orange Judd Hill in the 1920s and sold to Hill's daughter and her husband, Esther and Samuel Chapin, in 1933. The cotton gin was built on the plantation circa 1930; its brick construction, designed to prevent fires, makes it a rarity among extant cotton gins. Poinsett County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 24,583. The county seat is Harrisburg. Poinsett County is included in the Jonesboro–Paragould Combined Statistical Area. History Poinsett County was formed on February 28, 1838, and named for Joel Roberts Poinsett, U.S. Secretary of War. County business was initially conducted in the county judge's home until first court was held in Bolivar, upon completion of a courthouse in 1839. County government was moved in 1859 to Harrisburg, a more central locale designated as the new county seat. Geography Trumann is located in the Arkansas Delta at (35.676313, -90.519183). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Ecologically, Trumann is located within the St. Francis Lowlands ecoregion within the larger Mississippi Alluvial Plain. The St. Francis Lowlands are a flat region with fertile soil mostly covered with row crop agriculture today, though also containing sand blows and sunken lands remaining from the 1811–12 New Madrid earthquakes.
