Jovito Palparan
Jovito Salvaña Palparan Jr. (born September 11, 1950) is a retired Army general, former politician, and a convicted criminal. From July 2003 to July 2004, he was the commander of the Philippine Humanitarian Contingent in the Iraq War. He also served as a Congressman representing the Bantay party-list group in the 14th Congress of the Philippines. He earned the nickname "The Butcher" for his deadly campaign against communist rebels. On September 17, 2018, Palparan was found guilty of kidnapping and serious illegal detention over the enforced disappearance of Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño in 2006, and was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment. Army general or General of the army is the highest ranked general officer in many countries that use the French Revolutionary System. Army general is normally the highest rank used in peacetime. The Wounded Personnel Medal is awarded to members of and civilians employed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines who are injured or killed in combat with the enemy. Design Medal The medal is in the form of a cross in gold.. Superimposed in the center of a cross is a disc where a relief head of Gen Gregorio del Pilar is placed facing front. The wreath made of light green laurel leaves superimposed the cross.
