John William Tebbel
John William Tebbel (1912–2004), was an American journalist, editor, writer, teacher, and media historian. He was known for his four-volume book, ''A History of Book Publishing in the United States'' (1972, Bowker). Biography John William Tebbel was born on November 16, 1912, in Boyne City, Michigan, Boyne City, Michigan to parents Edna Mae (née Johnston) and William Tebbel. He grew up on a farm and began working as a local reporter for the ''Mount Pleasant Daily Times'' newspaper in Michigan when he was age 14. He received a bachelor's degree (1935) from Central Michigan University; and a master's degree (1937) from Columbia Journalism School. Boyne City, Michigan
Boyne City () is a city in Charlevoix County, Michigan, Charlevoix County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,816 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, making it the largest city in Charlevoix County. Boyne City is located at the eastern end of Lake Charlevoix, Michigan's third largest inland lake. The city is also the site of the mouth of the Boyne River (Michigan), Boyne River, named for the River Boyne in Leinster, Ireland. Sterling Memorial Library
Sterling Memorial Library (SML) is the main library, library building of the Yale University Library system in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. Opened in 1931, the library was designed by James Gamble Rogers as the centerpiece of Yale's Gothic Revival campus. The library's tower has sixteen levels of bookstacks containing over 4 million volumes. Several special collections—including the university's Manuscripts & Archives—are also housed in the building. It connects via tunnel to the underground Bass Library, which holds an additional 150,000 volumes. The library is named for John W. Sterling, a lawyer representing Standard Oil, whose huge bequest to Yale required that an "enduring, useful and architecturally beautiful edifice" be built.
