John Lippiett
Rear Admiral Richard John Lippiett, (born 7 July 1949) is a retired senior Royal Navy officer who became Commandant of the Joint Services Command and Staff College. Early life and education Lippiett was born on 7 July 1949. He was educated at Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College, Brighton, Hove and Sussex Grammar School. Naval career Lippiett joined the Royal Navy in 1967. He served in the Falklands War as executive officer of HMS Ambuscade (F172), HMS ''Ambuscade''. He was appointed captain of the frigate HMS Amazon (F169), HMS ''Amazon'' in 1986, naval assistant to the First Sea Lord in 1988 and Commanding Officer of the frigate HMS Norfolk (F230), HMS ''Norfolk'' as well as Captain of the 9th Frigate Squadron (United Kingdom), 9th Frigate Squadron in 1991. Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe (NAVSOUTH) was a Component Command in NATO's Allied Forces Southern Europe (AFSOUTH). Between 1951 and 1953, after the establishment of AFSOUTH, Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces Southern Europe, initially Admiral Robert Carney of the United States, also held the title of Commander, Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe. With the creation of Allied Forces Mediterranean in 1953, a British-led major NATO Subordinate Command that was responsible for maritime operations in the southern region the command and title was disestablished. In 1967 the NATO Military Command Structure was reorganised with the disbandment of Allied Forces Mediterranean. Established in partial recompense was NAVSOUTH, reactivated on 5 June 1967. General Sir John Chalmers McColl, (born 17 April 1952) is a retired senior British Army officer and a past Lieutenant Governor of Jersey. McColl previously served as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe from 2007 to 2011. Army career Educated at Culford School in Suffolk, England, McColl was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Royal Anglian Regiment in 1973 and promoted to lieutenant on 8 September 1974. He was promoted to captain on 8 March 1979 and to major on 30 September 1984. In 1989, he became a squadron commander in the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, was promoted to lieutenant colonel on 30 June 1990, and to acting colonel shortly after. Air Chief Marshal Sir Brian Kevin Burridge, (born 26 September 1949) is a retired Royal Air Force officer. A former Nimrod pilot, Burridge was in overall command of British forces under Operation Telic during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. RAF career Brian Burridge joined the Royal Air Force as a university cadet (as a member of Cambridge University Air Squadron), being commissioned on 24 September 1967.
