John Burn (bishop)
William John Burn (28 October 185118 June 1896) was an Anglican colonial bishop in the late 19th century. Burn was born in Durham, England and educated at St John's College, Cambridge, he was ordained in 1875. His first posts were curacies at St Andrew's Church, Chesterton and St Paul's Church, Jarrow. From 1881 to 1893 he was Vicar of St Peter's, Jarrow then St Edwin Coniscliffe In 1893 Burn was elevated to the episcopate as the second bishop of Qu’Appelle. He was consecrated a bishop on 24 March 1893, by Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Westminster Abbey. He arrived to take up his post Burn arrived in Qu'Appelle, Assiniboia Assiniboia District refers to two historical districts of Canada's Northwest Territories. John Burn (rower)
John Southerden Burn (25 June 1884 – 28 August 1958) was an English medical doctor and Rowing (sport), rower who competed for Great Britain in the 1908 Summer Olympics. Burn was born at Richmond, London, Richmond on Thames, the son of Dr Stacey Burn and his wife Agnes Ellen Warner. His father was in practice at Richmond, and his grandfather John Southerden Burn was a solicitor and antiquary. Burn was a medical student at Cambridge University and rowed for Cambridge University Boat Club, Cambridge in the Boat Race in 1907 and 1908. The Cambridge crew made up a boat in the eight (rowing), eights, which won the bronze medal for Great Britain rowing at the 1908 Summer Olympics. In 1910 Burn partnered Gordon Thomson (rower), Gordon Thomson to win Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta beating Albertus Wielsma and Bernardus Croon in the final. John Southerden Burn
John Southerden Burn (3 July 1798 – 15 June 1870) was an English solicitor and antiquary. Life Burn was the son of Captain John Southerden Burn of the Royal Marines and his wife Ann Ralph, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Ralph. He was born in Chatham on 7 July 1798 and baptised at Week Street Independent Chapel, Maidstone, on 21 July. He qualified as a solicitor in 1819, when he began to practise at 11 Staple Inn, Holborn in London. In 1820 he moved to 11 King's Bench Walk, Temple, and in 1822 to 27 King Street, Cheapside. In the following year he entered into a partnership with Samuel Woodgate Durrant, which lasted till 1828, when he removed to 25 Tokenhouse Yard. In 1831 Burn was appointed registrar of marriages at chapels prior to 1754. In 1836, he became secretary to the commission for inquiring into non-parochial registers.
