Jochen Horst
Jochen Horst (born 7 September 1961 in Osnabrück) is a German film, TV and theater actor. Horst graduated in 1986 from the state Academy of Music and Performing Arts (''Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst'') in Graz, Austria, summa cum laude. Subsequently, Horst went to London to attend the Lee Strasberg Institute for two years, furthering his studies of Method Acting. Together with Anne Bennent, Horst received the O.-E.-Hasse-Preis in 1986 for ''Best Newcomer of the Year''. For his leading role in German TV series '' Balko'', Horst was awarded with the Grimme-Preis for ''Best Actor'' in 1996. Horst lives in Spain with his family. Osnabrück (; wep, Ossenbrügge; archaic ''Osnaburg'') is a city in the German state of Lower Saxony. It is situated on the river Hase in a valley penned between the Wiehen Hills and the northern tip of the Teutoburg Forest. With a population of 168,145 Osnabrück is one of the four largest cities in Lower Saxony. ''Luther'' is a 2003 historical drama film dramatizing the life of Protestant Christian reformer Martin Luther. It is directed by Eric Till and stars Joseph Fiennes in the title role. Alfred Molina, Jonathan Firth, Claire Cox, Bruno Ganz, and Sir Peter Ustinov co-star. The film covers Luther's life from his becoming a monk in 1505, to his trial before the Diet of Augsburg in 1530. The American-German co-production was partially funded by Thrivent, a Christian financial services company. This marked the final film appearance of Sir Peter Ustinov before his death in March 2004. Plot The film begins during a thunderstorm in 1505, as Luther is returning to his home. For fear of losing his life in the storm, Luther commits his life to God and becomes an Augustinian monk.
