Jiří Pospíšil
Jiří Pospíšil (born 24 November 1975) is a Czech Republic, Czech politician, who was leader of TOP 09 from November 2017 until November 2019. As a deputy for the Civic Democratic Party (Czech Republic), Civic Democratic Party, Pospíšil served twice as Ministry of Justice (Czech Republic), Czech Minister of Justice: between 2006 and 2009 under Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, and then again from 2010 to 2012 in the Petr Nečas' Cabinet, government of Petr Nečas. Pospíšil was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 2002 to 2014. Career Born in Chomutov, Pospíšil graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of West Bohemia in 1999. From 2009 to 2010, he was the Dean (education), Dean of the same faculty. TOP 09 (, ) is a liberal-conservative list of political parties in the Czech Republic, political party in the Czech Republic, led by Markéta Adamová, Markéta Pekarová Adamová. 14 of its members sit in the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Deputies, and two of them are Member of the European Parliament, MEPs. Civic Democratic Alliance
The Civic Democratic Alliance (, ODA) was a conservative-liberal political party in the Czech Republic, active between 1989 (founded shortly after the Velvet revolution) and 2007. The ODA was part of government coalitions until 1997 and participated in transformation of the Czech economy. The party was supported by president Václav Havel who voted for it in 1992 and 1996 election. Marie Magdalena Františka "Meda" Mládková ( Sokolová, 8 September 1919 – 3 May 2022) was a Czech art collector. Her husband, (1911–1989), was an economist and a governor of the IMF. Having spent several years in exile, she returned to Czechoslovakia after the Velvet Revolution of 1989. Early life Marie Magdalena Františka Sokolová was born on 8 September 1919 within the premises of the Zákupy castle, where her father was working as a brewer. Her family later decided to move to Brandýs nad Labem. She moved to Switzerland in 1946 to study Economics in Geneva, where she earned her Ph.D. Together with other exiles from Czechoslovakia, she published a magazine called (). 2017 TOP 09 Leadership Election
Czech political party TOP 09 held a leadership election on 26 November 2017, following the party's poor result in the 2017 Czech legislative election. Jiří Pospíšil was elected as the new leader. Background Miroslav Kalousek was elected leader in 2015. His term expired in November 2017. It was speculated that the outcome of the election would depend on the party's result in the 2017 legislative election. Kalousek said that he would resign if the party achieved a poor result in the election. The party was heavily defeated and received only 5%. Speculation about possible successors to Kalousek started, centring on Markéta Pekarová Adamová and Jiří Pospíšil. On 24 October 2017, Kalousek announced that he would not seek reelection. The Czech News Agency (), abbreviated to ČTK, is a national public service news agency in the Czech Republic. It provides its services in Czech and English. History ČTK was founded on 28 October 1918, on the same day as Czechoslovakia, as Czechoslovak News Agency. It was formed from several unoffical Czech press agencies, which until then functioned in exile. It published in several languages, including in German together with then-official Czechoslovak. European Parliament elections were held in the Czech Republic on 23 and 24 May 2014.
