Jessica Mariette Adolfsson (born 15 July 1998) is a Swedish ice hockey player and member of the Swedish national team. She signed a ten-day standard player agreement with the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) on 10 January 2025; prior to signing in the PWHL, she played thirteen games of the 2024–25 SDHL season with HV71 in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship was an international ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) which was contested in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark, from 25 August to 4 September 2022, at the KVIK Hockey Arena, and Scanel Hockey Arena. Historically, a top division tournament was not played during Olympic years, but in September 2021, the IIHF announced the change to play the tournament each year, even during Olympic years. 2017–18 SDHL Season
The 2017–18 SDHL season was the eleventh season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (Svenska damhockeyligan, or SDHL). The season began in September 2017 and ended in March 2018. Significant events Pre-season After the end of the 2016–17 season, the IF Sundsvall Hockey organisation cut its women's side, despite having managed to save their place in the SDHL during the qualification playoffs the organisation citing a need to save money for its third-tier men's side. The club was criticised for the decision, with forward Mathilda Gustafsson stating that "If we were a company instead of an association, you would never shut down a department which only employed women because the cost inhibits the male employees." 2016–17 SDHL Season
The 2016–17 SDHL season was the tenth season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League. The season began in September 2016 and ended in March 2017. It was the first season the league was known under the SDHL name, having changed from Riksserien the previous year. Significant events Regular season In October 2016, Luleå set a new SDHL regular season attendance record, with 3150 spectators turning up for a match against Modo Hockey, beating the previous record of 2653. The match also marked Luleå and Swedish national team star Emma Nordin's return to the ice after suffering a knee injury in the previous season. Later that month. The 2015–16 Riksserien season was the ninth season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League. The season began in September 2015 and ended in March 2016. It was the last season the league was known under the Riksserien name, changing to Svenska damhockeyligan (SDHL) the following year. The 2014–15 Riksserien season was the eighth season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League. The season began in September 2014 and ended in March 2015. After going undefeated during the regular season, Linköping HC won their second consecutive Swedish championship. It was the last season in which the league played with eight teams, expanding to ten before the 2015–16 season, the last season in which Piteå-based Munksund-Skuthamns SK played, being taken over by Luleå HF in the summer of 2015, and the first season in which SDE Hockey played in the top flight. Riksserien
The Swedish Women's Hockey League (), abbreviated SDHL, is the elite league for women's ice hockey in Sweden. It was established in 2007 as the by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and was renamed prior to the 2016–17 season. The league has ten teams and employs a system of promotion and relegation with the Nationella Damhockeyligan (NDHL). The unexpected withdrawal of Göteborg HC after playing only thirteen games of the 2022–23 season caused the number of teams to decrease to nine for the remainder of that season. Bodychecking was allowed for the 2022–23 season and goal cameras were introduced for the 2024–2025 season. 2012–13 Riksserien Season
The 2012–13 Riksserien season was the highest tier of women's ice hockey in Sweden. Eight teams competed in the league, with the top six participating in the 2013 Swedish Championship playoffs in women's ice hockey. MODO finished first in the regular season, but were eliminated in the semifinals by Brynäs IF, who would lose in the finals to AIK. The bottom two teams were forced to participate in a qualifier to keep their spots in the league, which resulted in HV71 being demoted to the second-tier league, Division 1. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the Official (ice hockey)#Referees, referee, or in some cases, the Official (ice hockey)#Linesmen, linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short handed, short-handed as opposed to full strength.
