Jason Ward (Gaelic Footballer)
Jason Ward is a former Gaelic footballer from County Dublin. Although born in Dublin, and playing for the north Dublin club St Brigid's, he played with Leitrim county team, as the first player to avail of the parent rule. He was part of the Leitrim team that won the 1994 Connacht Senior Football Championship The 1994 Connacht Senior Football Championship was the installment of the annual Connacht Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Connacht GAA. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. St Brigid's GAA (Dublin)
St Brigid's GAA Club (Irish: Cumann Naomh Bríd) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Castleknock, Fingal, Ireland which serves Castleknock, Clonsilla, Blanchardstown and Corduff. Its main grounds are at Russell Park, and it also has grounds in Castleknock at Beech Park and College Fort. The club supports 70 teams, from nursery level (four- to seven-year-olds) to adults, in hurling, football, camogie, women's football, handball and badminton. In 2003, St Brigid's GAA won their first Dublin Senior Football Championship and Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The Leitrim county football team ( ) represents Leitrim in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Leitrim GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship, and the National Football League. The team last won the Connacht Senior Championship in 1994 but has never won the All-Ireland Senior Championship or the National League. The Dublin Senior Football Championship (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the '' Go-Ahead'' Dublin Senior Football Championship) is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Dublin GAA clubs. Leinster Senior Club Football Championship
The Leinster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played on a knockout basis between the senior club championship winners of the competing counties in Leinster. The current holders of the Leinster title are Ballyboden St. Enda's from Dublin. Offaly side Gracefield were the first winners of the Leinster senior club football championship in the 1970–71 season. The most successful clubs are St. Vincent's from Dublin and Portlaoise from Laois, who have won the Leinster championship on seven occasions.
