Korean traditional rhythm also called Jangdan (장단) is a rhythm which the rhythmic form is repeated with percussion instrument such as Janggu The ''janggu'' (, also transliterated as ''janggo'' or ''changgo'') or sometimes called ''seyogo'' (slim waist drum) is the most representative drum in traditional Korean music. It is available in most kinds, and consists of an hourglass-shaped ... or hourglass drum. There is a basic format but there are many variations while playing the songs. Korean traditional music is usually singing within the Jangdan played by Janggu or eastern drum. This accompaniment is called 'hitting the Jangdan'. But in music mainly composed by percussion instrument like Korean traditional folk music, it is called 'hitting the steel' or 'hitting the Pungmul(풍물)' which is a Korean traditional folk music. Jangdan County
Jangdan County (read as ''Jangdan-gun'' in the Korean language) is a former county in Gyeonggi Province in Korea, which was divided into a northern part and a southern part when the USA and the Soviet Union jointly partitioned the Korean peninsula into two (the former controlled the southern half while the latter took over the northern half) during the division of Korea at the end of the Second World War towards the end of 1945.
