Jan Fryling
Jan Fryling (October 8, 1891, in Lemberg – March 3, 1977, in New York City) was a Polish diplomat, writer, journalist and president of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America in the years 1972–1977. Biography He completed his elementary education at the III Gimnazjum in Lemberg and pursued higher education in his hometown as well as in Munich. He published poetry before World War I. In 1913, he first recited his well-known and widely reprinted poem ''O, karabinie mój'' (''O, my rifle''). He served in the Polish Legions during the Great War. In 1918, he was an editor of the magazine ''Nowa Gazeta'' and worked on his law residency at the Appeal Court in Warsaw. In November of that year, he also held a position at the Ministry of Religion and Public Enlightenment. In 1921, he defended his doctoral thesis in law at the Jan Kazimierz University in Lwów. Wiesław Domaniewski
Wiesław Domaniewski (2 January 1896 – 29 October 1992) was a Polish businessman, financial adviser and economist, as well as one of the founders of the association ''Polish Veterans of World War II (United States), Polish Veterans of World War II''. He served as president of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America in the years 1969–1972. Life He was born on 2 January 1896 in Warsaw, then Congress Poland. Between 1918 and 1920, he served in the Polish Army, participating in the clashes in Volhynia, among others. In 1921, he graduated from the Department of Law and Political Science of the University of Warsaw. Order Of The White Lion
The Order of the White Lion () is the highest order of the Czech Republic. It continues a Czechoslovak order of the same name created in 1922 as an award for foreigners (Czechoslovakia having no civilian decoration for its citizens in the 1920s and 1930s). It was inspired by the Czech Nobility Cross created in 1814 by the Emperor and King Francis II and awarded to 37 Bohemian noblemen. 1922–1961 The order was created as an award for merit by Czechoslovakia for foreign citizens. The Order was established in five classes and two divisions, civil (with two crossed palms above the badge) and military (with two crossed swords above the badge).
