Jajce Fortress
The Walled City of Jajce (Bosnian language, Bosnian, Croatian language, Croatian and Serbian language, Serbian: ''Jajačka tvrđava'', sr-Cyrl, Јајачка тврђава) is a medieval fortified nucleus of Jajce in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Jajce Citadel high above town on top of pyramidal-shaped steep hill, enclosed with approximately long defensive walls,. It is one of the best preserved fortified capitals of the Bosnian Kingdom, the last stronghold before the kingdom dissolved under the pressure of military advancement at the onset of Ottoman Empire takeover. Jajce ( sr-Cyrl, Јајце) is a town and municipality in the Central Bosnia Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Jajce Catacombs, also known as the Jajce underground church, or simply Jajce crypt in Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is the historic burial site of Hrvoje Vukčić, a Bosnian nobleman who founded the city and ordered construction of the underground chapel with the crypt around 1400, which was finished before 1416, in time for his burial. Franciscan Monastery Of Saint Luke, Jajce
Franciscan monastery of Saint Luke is a Franciscan monastery in Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The construction began in 1877 and finished in 1885. In 1934-1935 the monastery was renovated by Karel Pařík. Franciscans in the 1970s tried to return the bones of St. Luke in Jajce, and since then the monastery carries the name of this evangelist. History Franciscans were present in Jajce from the Middle Ages, it is known that they had the St. Mary's Church with the St Luke's bell tower in the 15th century. The church was turned into a mosque at the arrival of the Turks. The bell tower is fully preserved, while the church was burnt down many times and now it is just a ruin. In 1888, the archeologist Ćiro Truhelka excavated a male skeleton with the skull separated from the body. The excavation was made on a hill that is called ''Kraljev grob'' (King's tomb) in Zastinje near Jajce, under a stećak.
