''Jacqueline'' (also known as ''Blazing Barriers'') is a 1923 American silent northern adventure drama film directed by Dell Henderson and starring Marguerite Courtot, Lew Cody and Edmund Breese.Munden p. 390 It is based on a 1918 short story of the same title by James Oliver Curwood. It takes place amongst those working in the lumber industry in Quebec. Dell Henderson
George Adelbert "Dell" Henderson (July 5, 1877 – December 2, 1956) was a Canadian-American actor, film director, director, and writer. He began his long and prolific film career in the early days of silent film. Biography Born in the southwestern Ontario city of St. Thomas, Ontario, St. Thomas, Dell Henderson started his acting career on the stage, but appeared in his first movie ''Monday Morning in a Coney Island Police Court'' in 1908. Henderson was a frequent associate of film pioneer D. W. Griffith since 1909 and appeared in numerous early Griffith shorts in Hollywood. Henderson also acted on a less prolific basis in the movies of producer Mack Sennett at Keystone Studios. In addition to acting, Henderson directed nearly 200 silent films between 1911 and 1928. Most of those films are forgotten or lost, but he also directed movies with silent stars like Harry Carey (actor), Harry Carey and Roscoe Arbuckle. Paul Panzer
Paul Wolfgang Panzerbeiter (November 3, 1872 – August 16, 1958), known professionally as Paul Panzer, was a German-American silent film actor. He appeared in more than 330 films between 1905 and 1952. Biography Panzer was born in Würzburg, Bavaria. His education included studying pharmacy at the University of Würzburg and studying vocal music at the Conservatory of Würzburg. He was a lieutenant in Germany's artillery reserves when he left there. Panzer's early work building sets and painting scenes for a New York City film studio developed his interest in the film industry. He also was involved with live theater, working for Augustin Daly both on stage and as stage manager. Panzer was best known for playing Koerner / Raymond Owen in '' The Perils of Pauline''. Charles Fang was an American actor and comedian who was active in Hollywood primarily during the silent era. He was active on Broadway from 1930 to 1935. He was known in his time as "the greatest Chinese actor in America." Biography Fang was born in San Francisco to parents from Canton, China. He reportedly graduated from Yale University and served in the U.S. Navy before becoming a professional actor on the stage and screen. Reportedly discovered by Rex Ingram, Fang also served as a cultural advisor and interpreter on film sets. Sheldon Lewis
Sheldon Lewis (April 20, 1868 – May 7, 1958) was an American actor of the silent era best known for his antagonistic roles. He appeared in more than 90 films from 1914 to 1936. Biography Sheldon Lewis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married actress Virginia Pearson on April 24, 1911. They were divorced in 1928. An Associated Press news brief about the divorce said that Pearson accused Lewis of "jealousy, ill temper and abuse." However, Pearson's obituary in ''The New York Times'' wrote "throughout the remaining years of their lives, they remained constant companions." The obituary indicated that the divorce was obtained because in that era marriage diminished a female film star's box-office appeal. Lewis died in Los Angeles on May 7th, 1958. His interment was at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park. Joseph Depew (July 11, 1912 – October 30, 1988) was an American television director and producer and actor. Early years Born on July 11, 1912, in Harrison, New Jersey, Depew spent much of his youth in northern Maine. Career Depew began his career as a child stage actor at the age of three. He was influenced by his mother, also a stage performer. He later worked as a second unit director or an assistant director in 22 films and 26 television series episodes. He directed numerous episodes across the first six seasons of ''The Beverly Hillbillies'', an actor in 14 films, an assistant producer in 11 episodes of ''The Bob Cummings Show'' and a production manager in one movie.
