J. C. Lambert
Joseph Charles Lambert (c. 1803 – 29 April 1875), generally referred to as J. C. Lambert, was an English comic actor who had a significant career in Australia. History Lambert was born in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk England, He arrived in Australia around 1855, in which year he was playing in a farce, ''Shocking Events'', at the Victoria Theatre, Sydney, although it is possible he appeared in Adelaide four years earlier. He was a member of the consortium that leased the Theatre Royal, Melbourne 1866–1867. He made a speciality of playing crusty old men: Sir Peter Teazle in ''The School for Scandal'', Sir Anthony Absolute in ''The Rivals'' Sir John Vesey in ''Money''. He took his farewell bows on 27 February 1868 and left Australia by the ship ''Reigate'' on 21 March. The promised autobiography never eventuated. John Hennings
John Hennings (6 July 1835 – 13 October 1898) was a German-born theatrical scene painter and theatre manager active in Melbourne, Australia, from the mid-1850s to the early 1890s. During a career of over thirty-five years Hennings worked as a scenic artist in a variety of theatres, mainly in Melbourne, but also in Sydney. He worked for a number of theatre managers in productions ranging across opera, drama and pantomime. For much of his career Hennings was closely associated with the Theatre Royal, Melbourne, Theatre Royal in Melbourne and in 1867 he joined a consortium of actors to take over the lease of the theatre. Plot As relations gather for the reading of the wealthy Mr. Mordaunt's will, Sir John Vesey's poor cousin Alfred Evelyn and the equally poor Clara part ways for fear that a marriage without money would bring them both misery. Sir John Vesey expects his own daughter Georgina to be the will's main beneficiary, but this instead turns out to be Evelyn, previously employed by Vesey as his secretary to make Vesey appear more generous (and thus more wealthy) than he really is. Evelyn decides that - if Clara would not marry him poor - she is too principled to accept him now he is rich and so leaves their relationship broken off. Charles Vincent (theatre)
Charles Vincent (1823 – 10 May 1868) was an English actor with a career as actor and stage manager in Australia, where he died when an apparently innocuous injury turned septic. He was married to the actress Louise Cleveland. History Vincent, (real name Charles Panrucker Viner) was brought up destined for a career in the Church, but his interests lay in the theatre. He came to public attention when as a member of an English company playing a series of Shakespeare's plays at the Theatre Imperial, Paris, he received a great deal of praise, notably from Lemaître. The Royal Victoria Theatre, often referred to as the Victoria Theatre or The Old Vic, was a theatre in Sydney, Australia, the first large theatre in the city. It opened in 1838; operas, plays, pantomimes and other events were held, and leading entertainers performed at the theatre. It was destroyed by fire in 1880.
