The Israeli Computer and IT Directorate ( he, אגף התקשוב וההגנה בסביבת רשת, ''Agaf Ha-Tikshuv VeHaHagana BiSvivat Reshet'') is the Israel Defense Forces body which charts the communication, wireless transmission, computerization, command and control over and defense of military and intelligence information in the IDF. The Directorate was created on March 3, 2003, on the basis of some functions previously held by the C4I Corps. The Directorate is also responsible for Cyber Defense in the IDF, a fact which has led to the name of the Directorate being changed to "Computer and IT Directorate" in May 2017. C4I Corps
The C4I Corps (, ''Heyl HaTikshuv''), or Teleprocessing Corps, is a combat support corps of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under the command of the Teleprocessing Branch, formerly the Computer Service Directorate. The C4I Corps is responsible for all areas of teleprocessing and communications in the IDF. Yitzhak Harel
Aluf Yitzhak "Haki" Harel ( he, יצחק הראל; born 1957) is the CEO of Israel Railways and former major general in the Israel Defense Forces. His last command post was the Planning Directorate. Harel was born as Yitzhak Schwartz in Netanya, Israel, and grew up in Haifa and Safed. He graduated from the University of Haifa with a B.A. in state affairs and also studied at the IDF Command and Administration Academy. Harel joined the IDF's Combat Engineering Corps in 1975 and advanced through the ranks in the Armored Corps. He became a battalion commander at the age of 27, and at the age of 34 commanded the 7th Brigade. In 2002, Harel was promoted to the rank of major general as the commander of the Northern Corps (a wartime post), and in 2003 he became the first Computer Services Directorate chief. Udi Shani
Ehud Shani (born May 9, 1957) is a general in the Israel Defense Forces and a former Head of C4I and Senior Field Commander. Biography Ehud ("Udi") Shani was born in Haifa. He studied at Reali High School. He joined the IDF Armor Corps in 1975 as an enlisted soldier, but the following year he attended Officers School to become an officer. He was the Deputy Commander of an armor battalion during the 1982 Lebanon War.
