Marin County is a county located in the northwestern part of the San Francisco Bay Area of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 262,231. Its county seat and largest city is San Rafael. A ridge or a mountain ridge is a geographical feature consisting of a chain of mountains or hills that form a continuous elevated crest for an extended distance. Point Reyes (, meaning "Point of the Kings") is a prominent cape and popular Northern California tourist destination on the Pacific coast. Located in Marin County, it is approximately west-northwest of San Francisco. Inverness is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in western Marin County, California, United States. It is located on the southwest shore of Tomales Bay northwest of Point Reyes Station and about by road northwest of San Francisco, at an elevation of . In the 2020 census, the population was 1,379. The community was named by a Scottish landowner after Inverness in Scotland. Community Inverness is located on the west shore of Tomales Bay, which runs southeast along the line of the San Andreas Fault. Surrounded by Point Reyes National Seashore, it is primarily a residential community, with little industry other than tourism. It has a small downtown area with a general store, post office, library, two restaurants, one gift shop and a coffee shop. A third restaurant is located a short way north of downtown. Inverness Park is a small unincorporated community in Marin County, California. It is located west-southwest of Point Reyes Station, at an elevation of 148 feet (45 m). Inverness Park is located between the communities of Point Reyes Station and Inverness. The community uses Point Reyes Station's post office. The community's population is counted as part of the Inverness census-designated place. It stretches for three or four miles (6 km) from Limantour Road, north along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, hugging the western edge of Tomales Bay. It is immediately adjacent to the Point Reyes National Seashore. History Development began in 1909. The community's original population included many Portuguese and Italian immigrants who worked the land. At least two fish hatcheries existed in the area until about 50 years ago. Bolinas Ridge
Bolinas Ridge is a north-south ridge in southwestern Marin County, California.
