International Brazilian Opera (IBOC)
The International Brazilian Opera Company (IBOC) is a New York-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2014 by João MacDowell, and a group of composers, singers, visual artists, and producers. Its mission is to support the creation and development of new operatic repertoire that combines ideas from both Brazilian and international artists while providing an educational structure for new talent to emerge. Awards Since 2014, the International Brazilian Opera has amassed yearly prizes for the graphic material of each production season. Brazilian Opera on Graphis Inc. João MacDowell
"'Joao MacDowell'" is a Brazilian composer known for fusing contemporary and popular styles with classical music. His work includes opera, symphonic, chamber music, and early albums of Brazilian pop. On the occasion of the concert premiere of his fifth opera ''The Seventh Seal'', Swedish journalist Johanna Paulsson – Dagens Nyheter, noted the composer as “A new thinker in the genre.”(en nytänkare inom genren). Stockholm, August 30, 2018. Life and career Early works MacDowell was born in Brasilia, and started his professional career as leader and vocalist of the Brazilian cult band Tonton Macoute. The composer was in a couple of bands such as Antiperipleia, and "Sabado Cedo Nao Tem Carne" with Brazilian artist Marcio Faraco on guitars, Cascao on drums, from the band Detrito Federal, Pedro Hiena on bass - Arte no Escuro and the late Ric Novaes (DJ Mr. Spacely) on vocals. Ingmar Bergman
Ernst Ingmar Bergman (14 July 1918 – 30 July 2007) was a Swedish film director, screenwriter, producer and playwright. Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time, his films are known as "profoundly personal meditations into the myriad struggles facing the psyche and the soul." Some of his most acclaimed work includes '' The Seventh Seal'' (1957), '' Wild Strawberries'' (1957), '' The Virgin Spring'' (1960), '' Through a Glass Darkly'' (1961), '' Persona'' (1966), and '' Fanny and Alexander'' (1982). Bergman directed more than 60 films and documentaries for cinematic release and for television screenings, most of which he also wrote. ''The Seventh Seal'' ( sv, Det sjunde inseglet) is a 1957 Swedish historical fantasy film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. Set in Sweden during the Black Death, it tells of the journey of a medieval knight (Max von Sydow) and a game of chess he plays with the Death (personification), personification of Death (Bengt Ekerot), who has come to take his life. Bergman developed the film from his own play ''Wood Painting''. The title refers to a passage from the Book of Revelation, used both at the very start of the film, and again towards the end, beginning with the words "And when Lamb of God, the Lamb had opened the Seven seals, seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour".
