Intercontinental Poker Championship
The Intercontinental Poker Championship was a poker tournament featuring professional poker players representing various nations. 21 players competed in the inaugural event, which was taped at Palms Hotel and Casino April 14-16, 2006, and aired on CBS for seven weeks beginning June 17, 2006. Jeff Medders and Gabe Kaplan provided commentary. The field of 21 players was split into three groups of seven, each of which participated in a double elimination Texas hold 'em "shootout." The winner from each group of seven advanced to the semi-finals. The remaining six players from each group competed again, with the winner also advancing. With the field narrowed to six, the remaining players played another double elimination round. Palms Hotel And Casino
Palms Casino Resort is a hotel and casino located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It is owned and operated by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. David A. Ulliott (also known as Devilfish)(1 April 1954 – 6 April 2015), was an English professional gambler and poker player. Formerly, Ulliott was a minor figure in the Hull underworld, but went on to become a World Series of Poker bracelet-winner, and a mainstay of televised poker. Marco Traniello (born August 14, 1973, in Gaeta) is an Italian professional hairdresser and was a sponsored professional poker player on Full Tilt Poker. Poker Traniello made his first appearance at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2005, finishing in the money in seven different events (tied for the most money finishes in the 2005 WSOP with Michael Mizrachi and Tony Cousineau). Donnacha "The Don" O'Dea (born 30 August 1948) is an Irish professional poker player. In his youth, he was a swimmer, and represented Ireland in the 1968 Olympics. He was also the first Irish swimmer to swim 100m in less than one minute. His parents were actors Denis O'Dea and Siobhán McKenna. Thor Harald Hansen (June 23, 1947 – December 5, 2018) was a Norwegian professional poker player. He was recruited by Larry Flynt to play poker for him after Hansen played against him in Las Vegas in the mid-1990s.
