Inferno Festival
Inferno Metal Festival is an annual extreme metal festival that takes place every year during Easter in Oslo, Norway. The festival was founded by Borknagar guitarist Jens F. Ryland in cooperation with Radar Booking in 2001 and takes place at Rockefeller Music Hall. Lineups 2022 The 2022 edition will replace the 2020 edition, cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will take place at Rockefeller Music Hall from 14 to 17 April. The festival tried to keep the same lineup as for the 2020 cancelled edition. Asphyx
Asphyx is a Dutch death metal band that was formed in Overijssel in 1987. History The band was formed in 1987 by Bob Bagchus and Tony Brookhuis. Joost was picked up for vocals and bass, but was replaced by Chuck Colli after the release of the first demo ''Carnage Remains''. This line-up released the ''Enter the Domain'' demo after which Eric Daniels was found as a second guitarist. In March 1989, Colli was replaced by Theo Loomans and the band recorded the ''Crush the Cenotaph'' demo. Brookhuis then left the band and the remaining three recorded ''Embrace the Death'', an album which was never released because of label problems. After leaving Pestilence in the early 1990s, Martin van Drunen joined Asphyx and the band signed to Century Media Records. After the release of their first album, ''The Rack'', they went on a European tour with Entombed, followed by a tour with Bolt Thrower and Benediction in 1992. Ved Buens Ende
Ved Buens Ende is a Norwegian avant-garde metal band. Their sound is diverse with quiet instrumental jazz influenced sections and aggressive black metal blast beats and vocals. Ved Buens Ende means "By the end of the bow" referring to the mythological rainbow Bifröst. History Ved Buens Ende was formed in Oslo in 1993 by the drummer Carl-Michael Eide and guitarist Vicotnik, who were then joined by bassist Skoll. Prior to this, Carl-Michael Eide had been playing in Ulver and Vicotnik in his own project Manes which eventually became Ved Buens Ende, not to be confused with other Norwegian band Manes, known as Perifa, and later, Manii. They were signed to the British label Misanthropy Records. The band mixed many unusual musical elements for metal, such as atonality and dissonance, a very prominent bass sound as well as Eide's crooning and Vicotnik's characteristic shrieks. Valkyrja
Valkyrja is a black metal band from Stockholm, Sweden formed in 2004. History The band released their first demo in the same year under the name ''Funeral Voices''. The demo was re-released on cassette September 11, including additional material, on underground label Deathkrush Productions – re-titled ''Far Beyond''. Their debut album was recorded at Necromorbus Studio in March / April of '07 and released in autumn of the same year by German label ''Northern Silence Productions'' as CD in jewelcase, special edition CD in metal case and 12" LP on black / marble wax. Tulus (band)
Tulus is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1991. Members of Tulus later went and formed the band Khold. After Khold went on hold in 2006, Blodstrup and Sarke resurrected Tulus. Tulus has a "fourth member": Blodstrup's wife, Hildr (Hilde Nymoen), who writes all lyrics for both Tulus and Khold. Benighted
Benighted is a French deathgrind band formed in Saint-Étienne in 1998. The group comprises vocalist Julien Truchan, guitarists Emmanuel Dalle and Fabien "Fack" Desgardins, bassist Pierre Arnoux and drummer Kevin Paradis, Benighted have released nine studio albums. History Benighted was formed in Saint-Étienne, Rhône-Alpes, France, in May 1998 by vocalist Julien Truchan, guitarists Liem N'Guyen and Olivier Gabriel, drummer Fred Fayolle and bassist Chart. Myrkskog
Myrkskog is a death metal band formed in 1993 from Drammen, Norway. History Their music consists of high speed double-bass with rapid blastbeats and fills. Guitars are made up of harmonic tremolo picking and sometimes power chords with fast solos composed by Destructhor who, along with Secthdamon, were members in Zyklon. Their debut album ''Deathmachine'' is a hybrid of black metal and death metal. Their second album ''Superior Massacre'' is much more death metal-oriented with more prominent bass-lines and less tremolo picked riffs. The name 'Myrkskog' is a translation of the Norwegian word for 'Mirkwood'. Destructhor joined Morbid Angel in 2008 and departed in 2015. Secthdamon, since 2005 is a live member for Emperor. Einherjer
Einherjer is a Viking metal band from Haugesund, Norway, founded in 1993. Some of the band's albums are heavily folk influenced, while others have a more traditional symphonic black metal sound. Their lyrics retell Norse legends, and each of their albums has its own theme. The band split up in early 2004 after releasing the album ''Blot'' in December 2003, but later reformed. In December 2004, all members of Einherjer's last lineup, including the band's founders Frode Glesnes and Gerhard Storesund, founded the thrash metal band Battered together with bass guitarist Ole Moldesæther.
