Curaçao ( ; ; pap, Kòrsou, ), officially the Country of Curaçao ( nl, Land Curaçao; pap, Pais Kòrsou), is a Lesser Antilles island country in the southern Caribbean Sea and the Dutch Caribbean region, about north of the Venezuela coast. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Bonaire, it forms the ABC islands. Collectively, Curaçao, Aruba, and other Dutch islands in the Caribbean are often called the Dutch Caribbean. Curaçao International Airport , ( pap, Aeropuerto Internashonal Hato, nl, Hato Internationale Luchthaven) also known as Hato International Airport (formerly Dr. Albert Plesman International Airport), is the only airport for the island of Curaçao. The airport is located on the north coast of Curaçao, from the capital Willemstad. Curaçao International Airport services flights from the Caribbean region, South America, North America and Europe and has the third longest commercial runway in the Caribbean region after Rafael Hernández Airport in Puerto Rico and Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport in Guadeloupe. The Curaçao national football team ( nl, Curaçaos voetbalelftal; Papiamentu: ''Selekshon di Futbòl Kòrsou'') represents Curaçao in International football and is controlled by the Curaçao Football Federation (Federashon Futbòl Kòrsou; FFK). Following a constitutional change that allowed its predecessor, the Colony of Curaçao and Dependencies to become a unified constituent country consisting of several island territories as the Netherlands Antilles and its dissolution in 2010, Curaçao has played under a new constitutional status as a separate constituent country since 2011. The Colony of Curaçao and Dependencies ( nl, Kolonie Curaçao en onderhorigheden; pap, Kolonia di Kòrsou i dependensianan) was a Dutch colony in the Caribbean Sea from 1815 until 1828 and from 1845 until 1954. Between 1936 and 1948, the area was officially known as the Territory of Curaçao (Dutch: '; Papiamento: '), and after 1948 as the Netherlands Antilles. With the proclamation of the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 15 December 1954, the Netherlands Antilles attained equal status with the Netherlands proper and Suriname in the new Kingdom of the Netherlands. Curaçao Football Federation
Curaçao Football Federation ( pap, Federashon Futbòl Kòrsou, FFK) is the football association of Curaçao. It is the legal successor of the Netherlands Antillean Football Union, which ended with the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010. International matches are represented by the Curaçao national football team. The NAVU was renamed to FFK on 9 February 2011 after FIFA had encouraged changing the name and update statutes, like dealing with Bonaire, who belonged then to the Netherlands.
