Indeep
Indeep was a 1980s New York-based group that was best known for its song " Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life". Career The group was led by its songwriter-musician Michael Cleveland, and it was known for employing a strong disco-esque bass line and early hip hop lyrics backed by two female singers: Réjane Magloire and Rose Marie Ramsey. "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life" was released on Sound of New York/Becket Records in 1982 and peaked in early 1983, reaching the top 10 on the US R&B and No. 2 on the US Club charts as well as the Top 3 in the Dutch Top 40 and the Top 15 in the UK, and was certified for gold-level sales in France. The 12" mix was notable at the time for including a purely vocal mix, an instrumental mix plus a track of sound effects contained in the song such as a toilet flushing and a phone ringing. Post-disco
Post-disco (also called boogie, synth-funk, or electro-funk) is a term to describe an aftermath in popular music history circa 1979–1985, imprecisely beginning with an unprecedented backlash against disco music in the United States, leading to civil unrest and a riot in Chicago known as the Disco Demolition Night on July 12, 1979, and indistinctly ending with the mainstream appearance of new wave in 1980. Réjane Magloire
Réjane Magloire (born 1964) is a Congolese–American singer, model, and actress. Biography Réjane Magloire was born in 1964 in Likasi, Zaïre (now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo), but grew up in New York City, United States. She studied Western classical music with heavy emphasis on opera singing. Her father is Haitian and her mother Polish. As an actress, Magloire had early exposure on television in commercials and went on to play Samantha, a member of the Short Circus, on the TV series ''The Electric Company'' from 1975 to the end of production in 1977 (she replaced Melanie Henderson). PBS stations continued airing reruns of ''The Electric Company'' through 1985. In the early 1980s, Magloire provided vocals for New York-based R&B and post-disco group Indeep. ''Glitter'' is the soundtrack to the 2001 film of the same title and the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on August 18, 2001, in Japan by Sony Music and in the United States on September 11, 2001, by Virgin Records. Technotronic was a Belgian electronic music project formed in 1987 by Jo Bogaert, who originally gained popularity in Europe as a solo artist with various new beat projects, including Acts of Madmen and Nux Nemo. Together with rapper Manuela Kamosi, he produced the single " Pump Up the Jam", which was originally an instrumental released under the name The Pro 24s.
