''I Am Woman'' is the third studio album by Australian–American pop singer Helen Reddy, released on 13 November 1972, by Capitol Records. The album included her second recording of the song that gave the album its name, which was also the version that spent a week at number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100.. The album debuted on the '' Billboard'' Top LPs & Tape chart in the issue dated December 9, 1972, and reached number 14 during a 62-week run, and in Canada's RPM magazine it peaked at number seven. Helen Reddy
Helen Maxine Reddy (25 October 194129 September 2020) was an Australian-American singer, actress, television host, and activist. Born in Melbourne to a showbusiness family, Reddy started her career as an entertainer at age four. She sang on radio and television and won a talent contest on the television program '' Bandstand'' in 1966; her prize was a ticket to New York City and a record audition, which was unsuccessful. She pursued her international singing career by moving to Chicago, and subsequently, Los Angeles, where she made her debut singles " One Way Ticket" and " I Believe in Music" in 1968 and 1970, respectively. The B-side of the latter single, " I Don't Know How to Love Him", reached number eight on the pop chart of the Canadian magazine '' RPM''. She was signed to Capitol Records a year later. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors that the RIAA says "create, manufacture, and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legally sold recorded music in the United States". Karen Philipp
Karen Philipp (born September 7, 1945) is an American singer and actress. Career Philipp came to national prominence in 1968 when she was hired as one of the two female vocalists in the second iteration of Sérgio Mendes and Brasil '66, debuting on their Top Ten best-selling album, '' Fool on the Hill''. She remained with Brasil '66 (and its successor group, Brasil '77) until she left in 1972 to pursue an acting career. She portrayed Lt. Dish in the first season of ''M*A*S*H''. Though her role was written out of the series after two episodes, a shot of her was used in the opening credits for the remainder of the series. She later had a recurring role on ''Quincy, M.E.'' as Robin Rollin (seasons 3-6). Philipp also posed nude in a pictorial in the September 1972 issue of ''Playboy,'' promoting her role in ''M*A*S*H''. Arthur Butler (born December 2, 1942) is an American composer, arranger, songwriter, and session musician. In a long career, he has been involved in numerous hit records and other recordings, and has been awarded over 60 gold and platinum albums. Life and career Butler was born in Brooklyn, New York, and learned to play various instruments including piano, clarinet and drums as a child. He attended Erasmus Hall High School. At the age of 13, he auditioned for Henry Glover of King Records, who offered him a contract as a result. Leon Russell (born Claude Russell Bridges; April 2, 1942 – November 13, 2016) was an American musician and songwriter who was involved with numerous bestselling records during his 60-year career that spanned multiple genres, including rock and roll, country, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, southern rock, blues rock, folk, surf and the Tulsa Sound. "This Masquerade" is a song written by American singer and musician Leon Russell. It was originally recorded in 1972 by Russell for his album '' Carney'' and as a B-side for the album's hit single " Tight Rope". Kenny Rankin
Kenneth Joseph Rankin (February 10, 1940 – June 7, 2009) was an American singer and songwriter in the folk rock and singer-songwriter genres; he was influenced by jazz. Rankin would often sing notes in a high range to express emotion. Biography Rankin was from the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. He was raised and introduced to music by his mother, who sang at home and for friends. Early in his career he worked as a singer-songwriter. Three of Rankin's albums entered the ''Billboard'' magazine Album Chart. Most of his career was in pop music. He was a guitarist on the album ''Bringing It All Back Home'' by Bob Dylan.
