Ivan Santaromita
Ivan Santaromita (born 30 April 1984) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2006 and 2019 for the , , , , and teams. His brother Mauro-Antonio and nephew Alessandro are also professional cyclists. Career Born in Varese, Santaromita turned professional with in 2006 before moving to in 2008. In 2010, he took his first significant victory as a professional in the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali, dominating the stage race as he won it with more than a minute-and-a-half of an advantage over Przemysław Niemiec. In 2013, Santaromita won the third stage of the Giro del Trentino. He approached the finish line with Michele Scarponi and Paolo Tiralongo, the trio being the remnants of an early breakaway. 2013 Vuelta A España
The 2013 Vuelta a España was the 68th edition of the race. Chris Horner won the 2013 Vuelta at the age of 41 on 15 September 2013, becoming the oldest ever Grand Tour winner. Horner beat his nearest challenger, Italian Vincenzo Nibali, by finishing ahead of him in each of the final three mountainous stages before the final stage into Madrid. This Vuelta started in Galicia on August 24, 2013. The race spent 5 days in Galicia, then continued anticlockwise touring Spain through Castile and León, Extremadura, Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, La Rioja, Cantabria, and Asturias, before returning to Madrid for the finish on September 15. Michele Scarponi (25 September 1979 – 22 April 2017) was an Italian road bicycle racer who rode professionally for the , Aurum Hotels, Domina Vacanze–Elitron, , , , and teams from 2002 until his death in 2017. During his career, Scarponi had 21 professional victories. He began cycling at age eight with a local team in the Marche region. Scarponi spent almost a decade with them, and won the junior Italian National Road Race Championships in 1997. He then spent four years at the amateur level with (1998–2000) and Site–Frezza (2001) before turning professional in 2002 with . Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time.
