Islington Chinese Association
Islington Chinese Association ( 依士靈頓華人協會) is a London based registered charity with an aim to promote social cohesion across the United Kingdom. It was formed in London Borough of Islington in 1986. It was incorporated as a limited company by guarantee in 1991 and was recognised as a registered charity in 1994. Their current chair is Mr Christopher Ng and prior to that the chairperson was Mrs Hanifah Law. Their work in the community includes organising Chinese New Year celebrations which are attended by the various diverse communities in Islington and beyond and is one of the highlights of the calendar. The London Borough of Islington ( ) is a London borough in Inner London. Whilst the majority of the district is located in north London, the borough also includes a significant area to the south which forms part of central London. Islington has an estimated population of 215,667. It was formed in 1965 under the London Government Act 1963, which simultaneously abolished the metropolitan boroughs of Islington and Finsbury. The new entity remains the second smallest borough in London and the third-smallest district in England. The London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) is the principal local government archive repository for the Greater London area, including the City of London: it is the largest county record office in the United Kingdom. It was established under its present name in 1997, having previously been known as the Greater London Record Office. It is administered and financed by the City of London Corporation. The archive is based at 40 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell, London. It attracts over 30,000 visitors a year and deals with a similar number of written enquiries.
