Irv Novick
Irving Novick (; April 11, 1916 – October 15, 2004) was an American comics artist who worked almost continuously from 1939 until the 1990s. Career A graduate of the National Academy of Design, Irv Novick got his start in the workshop of Harry "A" Chesler. From about 1939 to 1946, Novick was working for MLJ Comics, the company that would later be known as Archie Comics. He became the primary artist for their superhero comics, including the characters the Shield (the first patriotic superhero), Bob Phantom, the Hangman, and Steel Sterling, until MLJ cut back on these titles to focus more on their Archie comics. He joined the United States Army on April 17, 1943. From 1946 to 1951, Novick worked in advertising and for the largely unsuccessful comic strips ''Cynthia'' and ''The Scarlet Avenger''. Irvin C. "Whiz" Wisniewski (January 8, 1925 – February 26, 2014) was an American football and basketball player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Hillsdale College in 1951, tallying a mark of 2–6. Wisniewski was also the head basketball coach at Hillsdale from 1950 to 1952 and at the University of Delaware from 1954 to 1966, compiling a career college basketball record of 124–179. Throughout his nine-decade career, Williams focused on the Great American Songbook and the tenor sax as a solo vehicle. Irving Torgoff (March 6, 1917 – October 21, 1993) was an American professional basketball player. Early life Torgoff was born in Brooklyn, New York, and played basketball at Tilden High School. Education He attended Long Island University from 1935 to 1939 and was a two-time All-American for coach Clair Bee. In 1939, Torgoff led LIU to an undefeated record and a National Invitation Tournament championship over Loyola University Chicago. Irving David Rubin (April 12, 1945 – November 13, 2002) was a Canadian-born American political and religious activist who served as chairman of the Jewish Defense League (JDL) from 1985 to 2002. He committed suicide in jail when awaiting trial on charges of Criminal conspiracy, conspiracy to bomb private and government property. Early life and activism Rubin was born in Montreal, Quebec.
