Iraqi Elite Cup
The Baghdad Championship (), formerly known as the Umm al-Ma'arik Championship (), was an annual association football, football competition in men's domestic Football in Iraq, Iraqi football that was usually held at the beginning of each season. It was founded in the 1st Umm al-Ma'arik Championship, 1991–92 season, and its last edition was in the 1st Baghdad Championship, 2003–04 season. The top eight teams of the previous Iraqi Premier League season entered the competition, with the exception of the 1st Umm al-Ma'arik Championship, first and 3rd Umm al-Ma'arik Championship, third editions, where the top six teams of the league entered. The teams were split into two groups, and the top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals. The winners would contest the final, and the losers would play for third place. The Iraq Football Association (IFA) () is the governing body of football in Iraq, controlling the Iraq national football team, Iraqi national team and the Iraqi football league system. Al-Najaf Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional football club based in Najaf. They are members of the Iraq Stars League. Al-Najaf has competed in the 2007 AFC Champions League. History In 1960, the city of Najaf began an active movement to establish a sports club after the athletes then felt the need of the city to a sports club that absorbed the energies of young people and their creations which are almost lost in the amateur leagues. Al Naft Sports Club () is an Iraqi professional sports club based in the Adhamiyah District, East Districts of the Tigris River, Baghdad. Their football team plays in the highest division in Iraq which is the Iraq Stars League, which they have never been relegated from. 2nd Umm Al-Ma'arik Championship
The 2nd Umm al-Ma'arik Championship () was the second occurrence of the Baghdad Championship. Unlike the last season where the competition was organised by Al-Talaba, this season was organised by the Iraq Football Association. The top eight teams of the 1991–92 Iraqi National League competed in the tournament. The competition started on 2 July 1992 and ended on 17 July 1992 where, in the final, held at Al-Shaab Stadium, Al-Talaba defeated Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya after extra time. Al-Karkh Sports Club () is an Iraqi sports club based in Karkh, Baghdad. Its professional football team plays in the Iraq Stars League, the top tier of the Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium. Founded in 1963, Al-Karkh was not successful in reaching the top flight of Iraqi football until Al-Rasheed SC's properties and place in the top division were transferred to Al-Karkh when Al-Rasheed were dissolved in 1990. Al-Sinaa Stadium () is a multi-use stadium in Baghdad, Iraq. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Al-Sinaa SC. The stadium holds up to 6,000 people. Al-Zawraa Stadium
Al-Zawra'a Stadium () is an association football stadium located in Baghdad, Iraq. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home of Al-Zawraa SC. The stadium was inaugurated in February 2022 and seats 15,443 spectators. History The stadium is located in a residential area in the middle of Baghdad.
