Inter-Pacific Bar Association
The Inter-Pacific Bar Association or IPBA is an international association of business and commercial lawyers, founded in 1991. Its members consist of residents of the Asia-Pacific region, or lawyers with a strong interest in that region. It brings together lawyers from different backgrounds and legal systems and fosters communication and builds stronger ties between these lawyers and thus their countries. It was founded in April 1991 at an initial conference in Tokyo attended by 500 lawyers. The association has since grown to over 1,200 members from 65 countries and jurisdictions, such as Australia, China, Singapore, India, the United States and Japan. Through its IPBA Scholars program the Association brings young lawyers and lawyers from developing countries to its annual conferences and thus helps to ensure the continued development of the legal profession in the region. Gao also holds many national political appointments, serves on multiple corporate boards, and was the former president of the All China Lawyers Association, the national bar association for China governing the nation's 110,000 lawyers. Susan Glazebrook
Dame Susan Gwynfa Mary Glazebrook (born 8 February 1956) is a judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. Early life, family and education Born in Bowdon, Cheshire, England, on 8 February 1956, Glazebrook emigrated to New Zealand with her family in 1962, and she became a naturalised New Zealand citizen in 1978. She was educated at Tauranga Girls' College, before going on to study at the University of Auckland, where she gained a Bachelor of Arts in 1975, a Master of Arts with first-class honours in history in 1978, and an LLB(Hons) in 1980. She later completed a DipBus (Finance) at the same institution in 1994. In 1988, Glazebrook obtained a DPhil from the University of Oxford in French legal history; her doctoral thesis was titled ''Justice in transition: crime, criminals and criminal justice in revolutionary Rouen, 1790–1800''. Pathmanaban Selvadurai
Pathmanaban Selvadurai (9 June 1933 – 18 July 2024), better known as P. Selvadurai, was a Singaporean former politician and lawyer. A former member of the People's Action Party (PAP), he served as the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Bukit Panjang Constituency from 1967 to 1972 and the MP representing Kuo Chuan Constituency from 1972 to 1984. Selvadurai died on 18 July 2024 at 92. Early life and education Selvadurai was born in the Straits Settlements (present-day Singapore) on 9 June 1933 to Ceylon Tamils. He studied at Monk's Hill Primary School and Raffles Institution. He also went to London University College and Middle Temple where he became a barrister-at-law.
