Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a motor racing circuit located in Speedway, Indiana, United States, an enclave suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana. It is the home of the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400, and and formerly the home of the United States Grand Prix and the Indianapolis motorcycle Grand Prix. It is located west of Downtown Indianapolis. Constructed in 1909, it is the second purpose-built, banked turn, banked oval track racing, oval racing circuit after Brooklands and the first to be called a 'speedway'. It was the brainchild of Entrepreneurship, entrepreneur Carl G. Fisher, who envisioned a proving ground for the budding automobile industry. Pennzoil 250
The Pennzoil 250 is a NASCAR Xfinity Series auto race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 2012. It takes place the Saturday of Super Weekend at the Brickyard, Kroger Super Weekend. This race replaced the Kroger 200 (Nationwide), Kroger 200, which had been held at the nearby Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, formerly known as Indianapolis Raceway Park, for the previous 30 years. Brad Keselowski won the inaugural event. For 2016, as part of the Xfinity "Dash for Cash" format, the race was 250 miles in total, but two 20-lap heat races, similar to the Can-Am Duel, was to be added to be run prior to the 60-lap main event. In 2017, the race would not continue the heat races and instead use the new stage format with stages 1 and 2 being 25 laps each, and stage 3 being 50 laps. Brickyard 400
The Brickyard 400 is an annual NASCAR Cup Series points race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, United States. The inaugural race was held in 1994 and was the first race other than the Indianapolis 500 to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1916. In its inaugural running, the Brickyard 400 became NASCAR's most-attended event, drawing an estimated crowd of more than 250,000 spectators. The race also paid one of NASCAR's highest purses. From 1994 to 2020, the race was held on the 2.5-mile oval, for a distance of 400 miles. Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Indianapolis motorcycle Grand Prix was a motorcycling event held on the combined road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. From 2008 to 2015, it was held as part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season (MotoGP). The event was revived in 2020 with MotoAmerica. The Indy Legends Charity Pro–Am race is a Historic motorsport, vintage Sports car racing, sports car race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.
