''Ilamai Kaalangal'' () is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Manivannan. The film stars Mohan, Sasikala and Rohini. It was released on 19 August 1983. Plot Rosie and Raghu are college mates that fall in love. Rosie's father, Inspector David, is aware of their love. He approves but requests the couple to focus on their education first and foremost. Raghu's parents expect him to marry Meera. Raghu's friends and fellow college students, Kannan, Jana and two others gang rape a young woman that ran away from home with her boyfriend. The young couple commit suicide and Inspector David finds clues to tie students from the college to the crime. To distract the inspector from the investigation, the rapists arrange for a college strike using Raghu as an excuse. The strike turns violent and Kannan kills Inspector David. Manivannan
Manivannan (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013) was an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, voice artist, playback singer and social activist who worked in Tamil cinema. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles. He supported various political parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He later became affiliated with the Naam Tamilar Katchi. ''Kalki'' is a Tamil-language weekly magazine published from Chennai, India. The magazine was established by Kalki Krishnamurthy, a popular Tamil novelist and Indian freedom fighter, in 1941. T Sadasivam was the magazine's co-founder. The magazine is known for its publication of historic novels such as '' Ponniyin Selvan'' and '' Sivagamiyin Sabadham''. Singer Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, guru of M S Subbulakshmi, and music critic S V Seshadri were also involved with the magazine in its coverage of music. Kalki Krishnamurthy also edited the magazine, which is published on a weekly basis. During his term the magazine was much more respected due to its quality. Subha is the name used by the writing partnership of D. Suresh and A. N. Balakrishnan, who write stories, detective novels and screenplays in Tamil. Work The duo began co-authoring stories when they were in college together, and have been publishing their work since 1979. They have published more than 450 short novels and more than 400 short stories. Most of their detective novels feature the characters Narendran and Vaijayanthi of Eagle Eye Detective Agency, and their coworker John Sundar. Other characters created by Subha are Selva and Murugesan, who also feature in their detective stories, and John Sembaruthi, who is a character in some of Subha's novels set in the army. Vairamuthu Ramasamy (born 13 July 1953) is an Indian lyricist, poet, and novelist working in the Tamil film industry. He is a prominent figure in the Tamil literary world. A master's graduate from the Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai, he first worked as a translator, while also being a published poet. He entered the Tamil film industry in the year 1980, with the film '' Nizhalgal'', an Ilaiyaraaja musical, directed by Bharathiraja. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), popularly known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a prolific Tamil playback singer and actor.
