IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight Championship
The IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight Championship (''Campeonato Intercontinental Welter IWRG'' in Spanish) is a professional wrestling championship promoted by the Mexican wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) since 1998. The official definition of the Welterweight weight class in Mexico is between and , but the weight limits are not always strictly adhered to. Because Lucha Libre puts more emphasis on the lower weight classes, this division is considered more important than the normally more prestigious heavyweight division of the promotion. The first Welterweight champion was Dr. Cerebro, winning the title on March 1, 1998, in a tournament final against Shiima Nobunaga. Dr. Cerebro Jr. is the current champion, having defeated Puma de Oro and then-champion Tonali for the title on January 1, 2024. (born November 15, 1977), better known by his ring name Cima ( ) (most often stylized as CIMA), is a Japanese professional wrestling, professional wrestler who currently works for Gleat. Héctor Juan López Vieyra (born November 25, 1984) is a Mexican ''luchador'' (or professional wrestler) who is best known for his time with International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) under the ring name Canis Lupus.
