INS Kora (P61)
INS ''Kora'' is the lead ship of the of 1,350-tonne guided missile corvettes in active service with the Indian Navy. The vessel was built at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) and outfitted at Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). She is equipped with 3M-24 anti-ship missiles as a primary weapon, with two Strela-2M anti-air missiles as defensive weapons. History ''Kora'' was on a goodwill visit to Singapore in 2001. On 31 October 2014, ''Kora'' was in collision with the cargo ship MV ''Madeleine Rickmers'' in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Vishakhapatnam. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, abbreviated as GRSE, is one of India's leading Defense industry, defence shipyards, located in Kolkata. It builds and repairs merchant shipping, commercial and warship, naval vessels. GRSE also exports the ships that the company builds. Founded in 1884 as a small privately-owned company on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, it was renamed as ''Garden Reach Workshop'' in 1916. GRSE was nationalised by the Government of India in 1960. Strela-2M
The 9K32 Strela-2 (; NATO reporting name SA-7 Grail) is a light-weight, shoulder-fired, surface-to-air missile or MANPADS system. It is designed to target aircraft at low altitudes with passive infrared homing, infrared-homing guidance and destroy them with a high-explosive warhead. Broadly comparable in performance with the United States Army, US Army FIM-43 Redeye, the Strela-2 was the first Soviet Union, Soviet man-portable SAM – full-scale production began in 1970. While the Redeye and 9K32 Strela-2 were similar, the missiles were not identical. The Strela-2 was a staple of the Cold War and was produced in huge numbers for the Soviet Union and their allies, as well as revolutionary movements. A corvette is a small warship. It is traditionally the smallest class of vessel considered to be a proper (or " rated") warship. The warship class above the corvette is that of the frigate, while the class below was historically that of the sloop-of-war. The Philippine Navy (PN) () is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It has an estimated strength of 24,500 active service personnel, including the 10,300-strong Philippine Marine Corps. SLINEX
SLINEX (Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise) are a series of naval exercises between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy. The first SLINEX exercise took place in 2005. The 11th edition took place in 2024. SLINEX 2013 SLINEX-13 was conducted off the coast of Goa from 4 to 7 November 13. INS Talwar and SLNS Sagara participated in the exercise. The exercise was conducted over two phases with the harbour phase from 4 to 5 November 13 and the sea phase with debrief from 6 to 7 November 13. Pennant Number
In the Royal Navy and other navies of Europe and the Commonwealth of Nations, ships are identified by pennant number (an internationalisation of ''pendant number'', which it was called before 1948). Historically, naval ships flew a flag that identified a flotilla or type of vessel. For example, the Royal Navy used a red burgee for torpedo boats and a pennant with an H for torpedo boat destroyers. Adding a number to the type-identifying flag uniquely identified each ship. In the current system, a letter prefix, called a ''flag superior'', identifies the type of ship, and numerical suffix, called a flag inferior, uniquely identifies an individual ship.
