III Riigikogu was the third legislature of the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu). The legislature was elected after 1926 elections (held on 15–17 May 1926). It sat between 15 June 1926 and 14 June 1929, before the next round of elections were held. Riigikogu
The Riigikogu (, from Estonian ''riigi-'', "of the state", and ''kogu'', "assembly") is the unicameral parliament of Estonia. In addition to approving legislation, the Parliament appoints high officials, including the prime minister and chief justice of the Supreme Court, and elects (either alone or, if necessary, together with representatives of local government within a broader electoral college) the president. Among its other tasks, the Riigikogu also ratifies significant foreign treaties that impose military and proprietary obligations and bring about changes in law, as well as approves the budget presented by the government as law, and monitors the executive power. Karl Einbund
Kaarel Eenpalu (until 1935 Karl August Einbund; – 27 January 1942) was an Estonian journalist, politician and head of state, who served as 7th Prime Minister of Estonia. Early years Eenpalu was educated at the Hugo Treffner Gymnasium in Tartu. Between 1909 and 1914 he studied law at the University of Tartu, and later graduated from Imperial Moscow University. From 1910 to 1912 and in 1915 he was member of the editorial board of the ''Postimees'' ("The Postman") daily in Tartu, in 1918 editor of ''Postimees'', in 1920 editor-in-chief of ''Tallinna Teataja'' ("The Tallinn Gazette") daily, and in 1924 editor-in-chief of the ''Kaja'' ("Echo") newspaper. Mihkel Martna
Mihkel Martna (17 September 1860 Veltsa parish, Paimpere – 23 May 1934 Tallinn) was an Estonian politician and journalist. Martna was born in Kreis Wiek in the Governorate of Estonia (in present-day Pärnu County) and studied in a local village school. Thereafter, he worked as country labourer before going to Tallinn in order to become house painter. At this period, he became acquainted with the European workers' movement, socialism and Marxism. As he was one of the first Estonians to be active in this field, he came to be called "the father of Estonian social democracy". As a young man, he was also active in Estonian national movement, publishing articles in Postimees and Sakala and collecting folklore material. Karl-Ferdinand Kornel
Karl-Ferdinand Kornel (25 August 1882 Tsooru, Kreis Werro – 19 September 1953 Irkutsk Oblast, Russia) was an Estonian jurist, journalist, diplomat and politician. He was a member of the II and III Riigikogu. Kornel began his civil service as a diplomat at the Estonian Embassy in Latvia in 1919. From 1926 until 1927, he was Minister of Commerce and Industry. On 28 November 1945, Kornel was arrested by the Soviet authorities and was sentenced on 10 April 1946 to ten years in prison.
