IFK Mariefred is a sports club in Mariefred, Sweden. It consists of beach volleyball, football, athletics, handball, floorball, ice hockey, MMA, skiing, and dancing sections. The club was founded on June 17, 1908. History The ice hockey department played in the Svenska Serien, then the highest-level Swedish league, in 1936–37, 1940–41, and 1942–43. From 1944–1947, they took part in its successor league, the Swedish Division I. In addition, the club also participated in the single-elimination Swedish Championship during the 1930s and 1940s. The Swedish football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in Sweden which is controlled by the Swedish Football Association and consists of 288 teams in 22 leagues divided into five levels. Division 7 is the ninth level in the league system of Swedish football and comprises 47 sections with 9 to 12 football teams in each. The competition There are 47 groups of 10 to 12 teams each representing a local geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 18 to 22 games depending on the number of teams. The Swedish ice hockey champions ( sv, Svenska mästare i ishockey) is a title awarded annually to the winning playoff team of the top-tier ice hockey league in Sweden, which currently is the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) since 1975. Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. As of the 2015–16 season, the league consists of 46 teams divided geographically into four groups. Hockeyettan operates a system of promotion and relegation with HockeyAllsvenskan and Division 2.
