''Blind Justice'' ( da, Hævnens nat, literally ''Revenge Night'') is a 1916 Danish silent drama film directed by Benjamin Christensen. Prints of the film exist in the Det Danske Filminstitut. Plot During a New Year's Eve party at the wealthy Ranton Manor, an escaped convict named "Strong" John Sikes trudges through the snow with his infant son. John breaks into the Ranton household and enters the room of Ann, the daughter of the family. He finds a jewelry box decorated with her name. It contains a pearl necklace, but he doesn't take it. The Ranton family and their guests are informed that John has escaped from prison and is wanted for murder. The partygoers gather weapons to hunt for the criminal, to Ann's disapproval. When she returns to her room, John begs her to not tell anyone he is there and to give him milk for his son. She agrees, but is caught in the kitchen by the partygoers. Benjamin Christensen
Benjamin Christensen (28 September 1879 – 2 April 1959) was a Danish film director, screenwriter and an actor, both in film and on the stage. As a director, he is best known for the 1922 film ''Häxan'' (aka ''Witchcraft Through the Ages''). His most memorable acting performance was in the film ''Michael'' (1924), where he played Claude Zoret, the male lover of the film's title character in a landmark gay film. Biography Benjamin Christensen was born in Viborg as the youngest of twelve children. He initially studied medicine but got interested in acting and began studies at the Det Kongelige Teater (Royal Danish Theatre) in Copenhagen in 1901. Christensen's professional acting career began in Aarhus in 1907, but he did not act for long. He soon abandoned the stage in order to become a wine salesman. Elith Pio
Viggo Elith William Pio (3 July 1887 – 10 February 1983) was a Danish actor of stage, screen, radio and television. He is most noted for starring roles in films such as Carl Theodor Dreyer's '' Leaves from Satan's Book'', Johan Jacobsen's '' Jenny and the Soldier'' and Benjamin Christensen's ''Häxan''. Theatre Elith Pio made his theatre debut in 1907 as a member of the Peter Fjelstrup's theater company. Ulla Johansen
Ulla Johansen (17 June 1927 – 14 February 2021) was an Estonian-born German ethnologist. Biography Johansen's mother was of German and Estonian descent, and her father, , was of Danish descent. Due to the occupation of Estonia by the Soviet Union as part of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, her family moved to Nazi Germany in 1939. After World War II, she began studying in Hamburg in 1947. Her father found a job as a professor and recommended her to study ethnology, which would become her major.
